My Favourite Wanderings In Goa

Goa has grown on me with every trip. If you have read about my offbeat experiences in Goa, I had mentioned that I didn’t really like it much on my first visit. But today, it’s one of my favorite destinations in India. I like it for many reasons – its slow-paced life, Portuguese architecture, charming villas, sprawling countryside and friendly locals.

If I had to pick my favorite neighborhood in Goa, it has to be Fontainhas in Panjim. It’s one of the best places to explore in Goa. I have a special fondness for it because I visited it first with my family last year around New Year and later with my husband this year. So, I got a chance to reminisce the memories created with my family.

I love Fontainhas because –

It’s a place perfect for aimless wanderings. You can loiter around as much as you like and you wouldn’t get tired. Since it’s an old Latin quarter, there are so many old Portuguese buildings to spot – colourful walls, antique doors, windows and lamp posts.

You can check out interesting art galleries. You can eat at elegant restaurants. I had breakfast at Verandah Restaurant that has a vintage feel to it.

Besides all of that, Fontainhas exudes a nonchalant aura, which makes you want to come back again and again.

What’s your favourite place for wandering in Goa?
