How To Be A ‘Happy’ Travel Blogger

How To Be A ‘Happy’ Travel Blogger
Travel blogging is challenging and success doesn’t come easily. However, it’s important to be a happy travel blogger while you work towards becoming a “successful” travel blogger

The road to success is interesting – it is long and bumpy with many beautiful sights on the way. So, enjoy the small rewards while you still have a long way to go. Take short breaks and fuel up your engine with lots of zest.

Remember. travel blogging is a liberating experience. So, enjoy it!
Here are my quick tips on being ‘happy’ while success is still away –

Turn a deaf ear to naysayers
People around you will say all kinds of things. Filter what you want to hear and ignore what’s not important. I have often heard and read that a travel writer/blogger’s life is tough, there is no money-making and stuff like that. I am not saying that travel writing is a cakewalk, but it is neither a wild goose chase. There is a middle ground to everything.

“Would you like me to give you a formula for success? It’s quite simple, really: Double your rate of failure. You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn’t at all. You can be discouraged by failure or you can learn from it, so go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because remember that’s where you will find success.” –
Thomas J. Watson

Look around to get inspired
Keep looking around and follow the footsteps of successful writers/bloggers. Try and imitate their strategies, but be yourself! While you look for inspiration, retain your own individuality. Listen to your heart and instinct. Experiment, learn and do things your way.

Never compare yourself with another blogger
This is very important. If you sit down to compare your achievements with other bloggers, you are ruining your chances of doing some quality work. Never pay heed to early or intimidating success of your fellow bloggers. Simply do what you want to do at your own pace!

“All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence; then success is sure.”

― Mark Twain

Stop and celebrate small accomplishments
Reward yourself for the hard work put in. Look at your blog and appreciate your own work! Take a break and chill out. Go back to your old posts and see if you can make them more worthwhile.

Be consistent
Consistency is synonymous with success. If you are consistent, you have already hit the bull’s eye. You can whistle and look forward to higher stats. People who show flashes of good work and disappear are not impressive. So, be there!

Pour in lots of passion and love into blogging
As long as you are blogging with lots of passion and love, nothing would affect you much. Make your blog look good. Design a nice header, put beautiful pictures and format your posts neatly. Proofread your posts thoroughly before hitting the publish button. Treat your blog like your child that you need to nurture.

Focus on good work
I agree that there are some highly frustrating times when your blog’s page views dip or nobody seems to respond to your posts. But, keep churning out interesting content and people will eventually turn to you! It is your self-satisfaction of doing something with honesty that counts more than anything else.
